Whether you’re a beginner starting your martial arts journey, a practitioner looking to expand your skill set, or an instructor wanting to integrate FMA into your school, PMAA provides the structured training and support needed to help you succeed.
At PMAA, we are committed to:
Preserving and spreading the rich traditions of Filipino Martial Arts (Arnis, Kali, and Escrima).
Making FMA accessible to everyone, regardless of experience or location.
Providing structured, practical, and effective training that fits any lifestyle.
Building a global community of passionate students and instructors.
We believe learning Filipino martial arts should be clear, structured, and rewarding, whether for self-defense, personal growth, or as part of a more extensive martial arts journey.
The Philippine Martial Arts Alliance (PMAA) was founded by Guro Julius Melegrito, a highly respected martial artist and instructor with decades of experience in Filipino Martial Arts (FMA). His vision was to close the gap in accessibility by providing a structured, effective, and easy-to-implement training system.
Many martial artists, instructors, and school owners were eager to expand their knowledge and integrate FMA into their programs, but they faced common challenges:
A lack of a structured curriculum that made learning and teaching FMA difficult.
Inconsistent training opportunities, where students only received brief exposure in seminars instead of ongoing development.
Uncertainty about blending FMA with existing martial arts systems without disrupting their current programs.
To solve these problems and make FMA more accessible, Guro Melegrito created the Philippine Martial Arts Alliance. Through structured online training, instructor certification programs, and a global community of martial artists, PMAA now helps:
Beginners develop a strong foundation in Arnis, Kali, and Escrima.
Martial artists expand their technical skill set by integrating FMA’s unique weapons and empty-hand techniques.
Instructors & school owners implement a systemized, student-friendly FMA program that improves student retention and engagement.
Organizations successfully incorporate a comprehensive Filipino Martial Arts curriculum into their training and team development.
What started as a vision to preserve and promote Filipino Martial Arts has grown into a global movement, helping students and instructors worldwide experience the power, practicality, and effectiveness of FMA.
At PMAA, we don’t just teach techniques - we provide a complete learning experience that ensures students and instructors don’t just "train" but truly progress, retain, and apply what they learn.
A Structured Learning Path - No Guesswork
Many martial arts programs lack direction, leaving students feeling lost. PMAA provides a step-by-step curriculum from beginner to advanced, ensuring consistent progress without confusion.
Train at Your Own Pace - No Falling Behind
Traditional classes often move too fast or too slow, leading to frustration. Our training system allows students to train on their schedule, giving them complete control over their learning pace.
A System Built for Practicality
Unlike seminars that only provide brief exposure, PMAA offers on-demand access to lessons, training drills, and guided progressions - so students truly retain and apply what they learn.
Designed for Instructors & School Owners
Many instructors struggle to integrate FMA into their programs, but PMAA provides certification, curriculum, and coaching to ensure their success.
A Supportive Community That Fuels Growth
Training alone can be challenging. At PMAA, students and instructors join a global community that provides guidance, motivation, and accountability throughout their martial arts journey.
The Philippine Combatives™ System is the official curriculum of the Philippine Martial Arts Alliance (PMAA), designed to make Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) accessible, practical, and easy to implement. It combines both weapons (practical weaponry) and empty-hand training (self-defense), providing a well-rounded system for real-world application.
Unlike many styles that separate armed and unarmed techniques, Philippine Combatives™ seamlessly integrates them from the start, allowing students to transition effortlessly between weapon-based and empty-hand combat. It’s a complete system, not just a collection of techniques, making learning structured and effective.
The Philippine Combatives™ System is not a personal style but an interpretation of one of the most effective, battle-tested fighting systems in the world - Filipino Martial Arts. Whether you’re looking to develop new skills, improve your self-defense abilities, or integrate FMA into your school, this system is designed to help you succeed.
